Boer goats are a large, double muscled animal developed in South Africa specifically for meat and hardiness. They are easy to raise, have mild temperaments, are affectionate and require no special care.
Boers are usually white with a reddish brown head and a white blaze down the middle of the face. Solid red Boers are becoming more popular. Boers have long ears, like a Nubian, that hang down along the side of their faces, a broad head with a roman nose and horns that curve back.
Mature weights for males are between 200 and 350 pounds. Females weigh between 120 and 200 pounds.
