Guard llamas drastically reduce or completely eliminate predator losses. The value of the livestock saved exceeds the initial cost of the llama and the small annual maintenance of a CDT shot, worming and hoof trimming. Llamas live a long time (20 years or so), have low maintenance, require no training and protect the flock or herd. They also require no special feed. They eat the same food as sheep/goats and cows. We use llamas with our goats/sheep and cows for protection from coyotes and dogs. Coyotes account for 64% of your losses while 14% is attributed to dogs.
